Jonathon “Junia-T” Lindo gained inspiration as an emcee and producer from a young age, taking pride in creating colorful soundscapes and compelling musical backdrops since the early age of 7. His father, a well-traveled musician and his mother, a gifted journalist provided Junia-T with the positive influence and raw tools that helped to cultivate his impressive musical talent, production and songwriting skills.
Junia-T has become recognized both across the GTA and across the globe as a multi-talented artist. His travels to Los Angeles over the past couple years, as well as a recent trip to the UK to release his most recent full-length project Eye See You has planted valuable seeds in raising his profile on a global playing field. Key global hip hop media have embraced Eye See You with coverage and video debuts by Okayplayer, HipHopDX, 2DopeBoyz, and more.
A strong supporter of his local Toronto scene, Junia-T has collaborated and contributed extensively to artist projects from all regions of the GTA, has hosted and performed at over 100 local events and showcases including the biggest annual celebration of music and urban arts Manifesto Festival. Local collaborators include Rich Kidd, Tanika Charles, Slakah The Beatchild and of course his own groups Smash Brovaz and Chefs Plate. His ability to capture a golden era aesthetic and feel good vibe has been integral to his production success, while working with current forward thinking artists who continually push the envelope and move hip hop to a next level.
Whether in the UK working on music with global buzz artists like Little Simz (“Sleep Paralysis”) and airplay on Europe’s biggest urban radio stations CapitalXTRA (plus music trending on 22Tracks London), to the Sunshine of the US West Coast shooting music videos and hitting #1 twice on Snoop Dogg’s Underground Heat (“Too Smoove” & “Sky Is Falling”), to collaboration with buzzworthy YGTut from Chattenooga, Tennessee (“Highs & Lows”) close collaborator with TDE’s Isaiah Rashad – Junia-T has exhibited the work ethic necessary to be a career artist.
Back in Canada Junia-T has received coverage through The Toronto Star (Top 5 emcees in Toronto – 2011) and was recently featured by AUX TV through their series Influenced. Embraced by Much Music Rap City as a key emcee in their freestyle battle, Junia has received ongoing praise for his lyrical work, along side his production clout.
The talented emcee/producer gives the art a new face, one with charisma and positivity. Junia-T has embraced his true place in the spotlight as a Canadian artist to look out for, pushing a sound that further establishes Toronto as a key player in global hip hop.
